Uhuru ditches Kanu to foes

Kanu chairman Uhuru Kenyatta has ditched Kanu. In a statement posted on his facebook page Mr. Kenyatta says he will not defend the position of chairmanship.
here is the full statement from Mr. Kenyatta
STATEMENT ON KANU.

I have been informed of reports in the media suggesting that the independence party - KANU is facing imminent de-registration due to its failure to comply with the Political Parties Act. This is something all Kanu members would not want to see happen. The party has had challenges, which I wish to see resolved to prevent the party’s demise. I am happy to see people who have been an impediment to the party resurgence start to take steps towards this endeavour.

Late last year, I called together the national officials of KANU and the Parliamentary Group for a retreat at my own cost to see how we could ensure that the party was the first to comply with the Political Parties Act and put an end to the internal wrangles that were plaguing the party.
The meeting was a great success and it was agreed that we amend our constitution to bring it in line with the new Constitution and the Political Parties Act, complete the recruitment and ensure we are compliant. The meeting also resolved that the Secretary-General would withdraw a court case he personally filed against the party’s recruitment drive to enable the party to resume recruitment. This has not happened.
I also made it clear to the KANU NEC that it is my desire to seek elective office in the coming general election. As a result, and in compliance with the new Constitution and the Political Parties Act that no State officer can hold a party position, I will, therefore, not seek any position in Kanu. It is thus incumbent upon the Secretary-General, as mandated by the NEC meeting at Naivasha last December, to ensure that Kenya’s mother party complies. I have twice called the National Delegates Conference, but called them off because of sideshows instigated by the Secretary-General, who has been an obstacle to the process of compliance. He must understand that his or others’ ambition in the party can only be achieved if the party complies with the law.
As agreed during the Naivasha meeting, the Secretary-General should withdraw, with immediate effect, the court cases he had filed against the party’s recruitment drive, as these too have a restraining effect on the process of compliance. Furthermore, these individuals should desist from sideshows and the wild allegations they are now making in this regard and instead put their efforts towards full compliance of Kanu. It is this insincerity and double speak that has been our greatest challenge in building Kanu.

Such behaviour is inconsistent with a party that seeks to form the next Government. It is, therefore, my hope that at the gathering called by the Secretary General this Saturday will tackle these issues.

HON Uhuru Kenyatta, EGH, MP
Chairman KANU

100 Year old Woman Driver

Very few people can achieve what this old Mama has achieved. Being behind the wheel for a record 67 years. On the roads of Laikipia County, there is a very unusual driver. Her name is Nyawira Ndioini who was among the first few Kenyan women to ever get a driver's license. She is believed to be more than 100 years old and she is still as steady on the wheels as she used to be when she begun driving. This lady has been driving for ages and she is not about to hang her car keys. She has driven for 67 years with a record of just one accident. Here is her story.

My Quote of the day

This quote made my day
Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all.  Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle.

The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.
